In Hong Kong, the firm is licensed for asset management, engaging in investment activities across distressed assets, credit, and alternative investments. Its client base is primarily institutional, including sovereign and state-linked entities, and it serves as a conduit for offshore capital deployment by its Beijing-based parent. Huarong attracted significant international attention in 2021 following a major financial restructuring triggered by governance concerns at its parent company.
