ICAP was one of the world's largest inter-dealer brokers (IDB), specialising in the arrangement and execution of transactions in wholesale financial markets including fixed income, foreign exchange, equities, energy, and derivatives. In Hong Kong, ICAP operated as an inter-dealer broker facilitating transactions between financial institutions in securities and futures markets. The firm served an exclusively institutional client base, acting as an intermediary between banks, hedge funds, and other professional market participants rather than dealing with retail investors. ICAP's global inter-dealer brokerage business was rebranded and restructured following the merger with Tullett Prebon to form TP ICAP in 2017, and its active Hong Kong SFC presence has since wound down.
